Paul Allen, co-founder ofMicrosoft, relaunched a lawsuit against Facebook,Google , and Apple , saying the companies are illegally using technology owned by Interval Licensing, a company set up by Allen in 1992.
The patent suit was originally filed in federal court in Seattle this past August but dismissed.Interval is requesting compensation for damages and a ban on products using the disputed patents.Allen claims that Interval was crucial to the development of technology used to develop the Internet in the 1990s, and owns 300 patents. It is four of those patents, those related to how data on the web is sorted and presented, that Allen claims are being infringed upon.
